Southern Highlands Opera Appreciation Group (SHOAG)
The Southern Highlands Opera Appreciation Group (SHOAG) is a community group of the St Jude's Music Association.  Its objective is: "To provide our Members with an annual program of events which will help both to meet and enhance their interest in opera, and to provide enjoyment and value for money".

The annual membership fee is $20 per head, and SHOAG currently has 60 financial members and three honorary members.

Some six Events are held each year, generally at the East Bowral Community Centre.  Members are encouraged to attend the Met Opera screenings at the Empire Cinema and are regularly advised of other musical offerings in the district, surrounding areas, and in Sydney.

Events in recent years have included Summer Concerts in St. Jude's Church featuring established and rising opera singers; a behind-the-scenes trip to the Opera Centre in Sydney; presentations by Cath Dadd, Michael Scott Mitchell, John Papadopolous, Donald McDonald and Michael Baume; and Jeremy Pearce's popular annual examination of one of Verdi's Little-Known Operas. Speakers in 2014 include Melvyn Morrow, Ralph Lane and Sharolyn Kimmorley. There is also an annual Opera Gala DVD With Winter Soup Night, and a Christmas celebration.
